Conventions of a Magazine

Mastheads in a magazine are used to let the potential purchaser know what the magazine is called and also usually suggest the target audience e.g. 'Secondary Teachers' wouldn't attract a teenager who likes gossip, instead it would attract a secondary school teacher.

The image used on the front of the magazine is to mainly draw attention to itself by the use of bold colours and being in a big size.

Sub headings are used to inform the purchaser about what other subjects and topics are being covered in the magazine.

The date is also on the cover to tell us when that specific edition of the magazine was released so we know which is the most frequent edition.

Contact details are also printed on the magazine cover so if the customer that buys the magazine is not happy with it they have a way of contacting them.

A variety of colours also tend to be used on a front cover to attract people becaus eif it was black and white it wouldn't be too appealing to people.
